GREENVILLE NEWS NOVEMBER 2 2010 Letter to The Editor: Follow the plan on Woodruff Road All of us at the recent County Council meeting want to thank council for its unanimous vote to delay the rezoning of the property at Woodruff and Godfrey roads, and Chairman Butch Kirven who arranged a County Council meeting with area citizens to hear our opposition to this rezoning request. One of the many reasons that we are opposed is Godfrey Road is already a much-too-busy and dangerous thoroughfare for children going to and from Oakview Elementary School. The Greenville County planning staff and Planning Commission have already rejected this property owner’s rezoning request, and then sent their recommendation to a County Council committee. County Planning’s recommendation required that the rezoning from residential to planned office use has to comply with the East Woodruff Road Area Plan which is one building not to exceed 3,500 square feet that will have residential architectural design. This EWRA Plan took 17 months and thousands of tax dollars and was completed in October 2008. The Plan was stated by Greenville County to be a five- to seven-year East Woodruff Road Area Plan for land use and was jointly agreed upon by County Council, county planning and the neighborhood citizens. The citizens developed this plan with Greenville County government and we should have full faith and trust that County Council will implement the East Woodruff Area Plan specifically as was agreed upon by County Council, county planning and the citizens.
